Name: Riley Wolfthal
Wand: Unicorn tail hair – Hazel – 10 inches
Patronus: Mountain Hare
Boggart: Something symbolic of the demise of the natural environment
Physical Description: Riley has a slim build and stands a slightly taller than average height of 6’1’’. He has creamy caramel colored skin and long, wavy black locks that reach down to his collarbone. Deep chocolate brown eyes are framed by thick, black lashes and accent by his high cheekbones. He wears a mustache and small beard which collects mostly at his chin. When working on something arduous, he will wear his hair up in a quick bun, but prefers to let it hang loose to display its full volume. He has several tattoos on his arm, leg, shoulder, back, and ribs. The one on his ribs reads, “Buy the ticket, take the train,” a quote from Hunter S. Thompson, his favorite writer.
Personality: Riley is a happy-go-lucky kind of guy. Often very quiet, he prefers to hear the stories of others rather than speak his own. However, he is happy to share if the moment calls for it. A true introvert, Riley vastly prefers the company of plants. He is a future Herbologist and spends most of his time researching and caring for his vast collection of magical and mundane plants. He is a very dedicated person and this shows in his determination to become better and better at his craft. However, he is not the type to shut himself in the library for hours and hours. Riley appreciates the necessity of balance in life, and understands the importance of self-care in congruence with work. Though shy and quiet, Riley is an avid gift giver. He expresses himself in the context of his relationships through being very attentive and learning about his friends’ interests and desires. One of his favorite things in life in spreading joy, especially to the people who have given him joy in the past.
History: Riley was adopted at the age of five by his two mothers. He was born to a teen muggle mother and who is assumed to be a muggle father, but he never knew for sure. When his magical parents saw him at the orphanage, they recognized the hints of magic about him and knew he was the one for them. Casey and Mara Wolfthal, both former Hufflepuffs, provided a beautiful childhood for Riley to enjoy. Having come from money, Casey and Mara were able to supply Riley with a very cushy childhood while still being able to be very present in his life. He was always given room to grow and explore, and they gave him the best homeschool education possible. Riley never wanted for anything, but was still taught the importance of kindness, humbleness, and conscientiousness. This allowed for Riley to develop into a very giving young man, always searching for ways to give back to the world and share his resources. At the age of 9, Riley discovered his love for watching things grow. His mothers created a small garden for him to use, which he quickly outgrew. Back home, he now has two small greenhouses and a huge garden in the backyard where he has spent many hours tending to his plants and learning about them. Riley entered Hogwarts excited about many things: the prospect of meeting new people, the wonder of experiencing new kinds of magic, and of course, Herbology class. He quickly became the top student in this class, and learned that his dream career would be a Herbologist. A fair student in other areas (except History of Magic), Riley enjoys school and is nervous that this is his last year in a place he has spent so much of his life.
