"Perfect," Kerrigan muttered under her breath as she approached the Leaky Cauldron. She was in less than a great mood, owing to a howler she had received that morning from her mother. Now, it seemed, her day was to stay the course of dreary - if the storm clouds overhead were any indication. Some people liked to say that a negative attitude was the root cause of unlucky stretches for people, but Kerrigan firmly believed that was a load of old cadswallop. She was a moderately positive person in the midst of a pretty awful week.
Thunder rolled behind her as she stepped into the dimly lit pub, wrinkling her nose at having to pass through it. In Italy, they weren't forced to pass through such filth to gain entrance into Wizarding towns and villages. She liked to think that the Italians had class. Of course, it was the Italian Wizarding views that had dictated she leave home and make her life here, in London, rather than following plans she'd dreamed of throughout her childhood.
No big deal.
The urge to keep her head down while passing through the pub was strong, but Kerrigan fought against it. She straightened her back, lifted her chin, and walked with purpose through the din of the weekend crowd. She even nodded politely to a few familiar faces, though she rolled her eyes the moment she was out of their view. In the back alley, she quickly tapped the bricks to open the archway into Diagon Alley, the scents and sights of the busy thoroughfare spilling out to her almost immediately.
In spite of her every effort to find Diagon Alley primitive, Kerrigan smiled. She secretly loved this place. It was so alive with movement and energy, so crammed with personality and shops, that not even a spoiled witch from Italy could deny its appeal. Pausing for just a moment to appreciate this first glimpse of it, she marched forth with far less purpose than she'd had. Her goal had been to make a beeline for Gringotts but now she found herself pulled here and there, looking at storefronts and wares with interest and amusement.
