Seeking a brother for Poppy McGinley. Please let me know if there is anything you'd like to adjust about his profile
Name: Theodore "Bear" McGinley
Age: 23
Occupation/House: (House is optional if creating an adult character) MUGGLE - You're free to choose his occupation.
Wand: N/A
Patronus: N/A - Favorite animal is, of course, a bear
Boggart: N/A - You can decide on his greatest fear here, though.
Physical Description: Bear stands at a stocky 6'0 and tends to pair every outfit with a pair of trusty combat boots. He has ginger hair and a majestic beard to match. His eyes are blue, a mirror of his sister's, and he also has a scattering of freckles. He has several tattoos and scars decorating his muscular physique.
Personality: This is mostly open to your interpretation. The only stipulation is that Bear is fiercely protective of his little sister, Poppy. They are very close as a result of their tumultuous childhood. Bear probably has some lingering issues as a result of abuses he experienced in his formative years.
History: There are some things that children shouldn't have to deal with, things adults are meant to protect them from. When you're a little boy whose mother makes her living by warming the beds of strange men, however, your childhood is very brief. Bear doesn't remember very clearly his life before he ran away from home. He has vague memories of his mother telling him to watch his sister, keep quiet, and stay put while she entertained in the next room. He remembers, too, the parade of strange men and how they sometimes made his mother cry or scream, but he was always told not to interrupt, not to get in the way. What he remembers most, however, is the day he found Poppy, at the age of five, crying under the bed. He remembers her telling him that one of mumma's friends touched her and it hurt. And he remembers taking her hand and leading her out the door and never, ever looking back.
Bear didn't really plan ahead. He didn't know where they could go and he certainly hadn't thought about their basic human needs. All he'd known was that he couldn't allow another of his mother's visitors to touch his little sister. It didn't take long for an officer to pick them up. They were taken into custody and there was an effort to locate any relatives, but their mother never came forward to claim them. It is unknown if she ever looked for them.
Shuffled from one foster home to the next, Bear suffered at the hands of negligent foster parents and other foster children. They were fortunate enough to stay together, but never found a loving home to call their own. Over the years, Bear focused on protecting Poppy in any way he could. She was a sensitive girl, easily bullied, and her anxiety only worsened with age. When she was eleven, an actual miracle happened: Poppy was accepted to a very special boarding school. While he loathed to be separated from her, a representative of Hogwarts answered all of his questions and assured him that Poppy would be safe and well cared for while at school.
At thirteen, Bear was finally free to focus on himself while his sister was away. He applied himself in his classes, kept his head down in his foster homes, and refused to allow anyone to bully him. He made a reputation for himself as a force to be reckoned with, tough, untouchable. (From here, you can decide! I figure this is about where he starts fleshing out what he becomes, so I'll leave it open.)
